DeMesy’s Top 10 Father’s Day Watch Picks

With Father’s Day quickly approaching and gift ideas flowing, we picked out our favorite watches for the special gentlemen of this world. We selected watches according to the lifestyles of the Dads we cherish and enjoy.

For the Sporty Gentleman

Rolex Submariner

This watch is perfect for the man who is adventurous and always on-the-go. The Rolex Submariner is a classic watch that hasn’t changed it’s look much in the past 50 years. This watch was originally made for divers, subjecting their watches to extreme conditions, so this watch will hold up to anything a dad can put it through.

Rolex Explorer II

This sport watch from Rolex is becoming extremely popular. It has a distinctive white dial, 24-hour bezel, and useful GMT function. The GMT function is an extra hand that allows the wearer to read the time in two different time zones at once. This extra feature is very useful for those fathers who are frequent travelers.

Cartier Calibre

This sporty piece by Cartier stands out from many others in the Cartier catalog. This watch reminds us of racing, especially the subdial seconds hand which resembles the dashboard of a vintage sports car. The dial is surrounded by Roman numerals, a signature feature of Cartier watches. We recommend this watch for the sophisticated and sporty gentleman.

For Everyday Wear

Rolex Stainless Steel Datejust Silver Dial

This watch is a staple for the modern gentleman. One look around the office of an established business, and you are bound to see at least one Rolex Datejust. These watches are iconic, classy, and reputable. Datejusts carry with them a healthy rapport.

Rolex Datejust Blue Dial

The Datejust was introduced in 1945 as the first self-winding watch that showed the date on the dial. This modern blue-dialed with Roman numeral markers is exceptionally elegant.

Rolex Day-Date in Yellow Gold

Introduced in 1956, the Day-Date watch was the first of its kind to spell out the day of the week on the dial. This elegant and understated yellow gold watch is an excellent addition to the handsome Rolex line.

IWC Portofino

This stylish piece comes from a company with a rich history in aviation. The small date window and slim hour markers tastefully contrast the deep black dial. The dark leather band complements the dial and makes this watch excellent for any occasion.

For the Complicated Man

Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso

The name “Reverso” on this watch comes from the ability to flip the watch face to the other side, originally designed to protect the watch face from damage when playing polo. Flipping the face on this model shows the exquisite mechanical movement. Along with the unique case-flipping feature, this watch presents a power reserve to let the wearer know when it needs to be wound, a seconds hand located in the lower right corner, and a thoughtfully placed date window. This watch is graceful but not boring, like many Fathers.

Breguet Classique Alarm

One of our favorite complications. This watch features an alarm feature that is set according to the 3 o’clock subdial. A small hammer and gong chime when the alarm time comes. Along with the alarm feature, this watch also features a 24-hour dial at 9 o’clock, allowing the wearer to track a second time zone; a power reserve indicator is also featured between the 10 and 11 o’clock positions. This watch is a great companion for the father who is always on-the-go.

Breguet Perpetual Calendar Power Reserve

Another stunning complicated piece from Breguet. This watch features a pinnacle of watchmaking: the perpetual calendar. The perpetual calendar feature allows the user to set the date once and never have to change it again. The watch tracks the day, date, month, and year as long as it is wound. This watch also features a moonphase indicator at 1 o’clock and a power reserve indicator at 11 o’clock. Breguet packs all of these features into a watch without cluttering the dial and also keeps the watch remarkably thin. This is for the father who expects extreme accuracy and reliability from the information on his watch.
