Breguet

Abraham-Louis Breguet is considered by many horologists to be the greatest watchmaker who ever lived — an assessment supported by a list of inventions that transformed the craft permanently. Working in Paris and later Neuchâtel during the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, Breguet invented the tourbillon (1801), the self-winding mechanism (Perpétuelle, 1780), the shock protection system (Pare-chute), the overcoil hairspring (Breguet spring), the guilloché engine-turning technique applied to watch dials, and numerous other innovations that remain standard in fine watchmaking today. The Breguet brand, now part of the Swatch Group, continues to produce watches that honor this heritage across the Classique, Marine, Tradition, and Reine de Naples collections. Pre-owned Breguet watches are among the most intellectually rewarding pieces in the secondary market, combining genuine horological history with exquisite craftsmanship — the engine-turned guilloché dials, blued hands with coin-edge counterweights, and Breguet numeral chapter rings are instantly recognizable and deeply beautiful. Vintage Breguet references from the brand's pocket watch and early wristwatch era are museum-quality pieces. DeMesy & Co. in Dallas has been a trusted source for pre-owned Breguet timepieces since 1987.
