Ebel is a La Chaux-de-Fonds watch brand with a history dating to 1911, best known for a design philosophy that embraces the integrated bracelet sports watch and for a series of highly influential commercial models that defined the brand's identity from the 1970s onward. The brand's name is an acronym of its founders — Eugène Blum and Lévy — and it occupies the middle and upper range of the Swiss watch market. The Ebel Sport Classique Wave, introduced in the 1970s, with its distinctive corrugated bracelet links, is the brand's most recognizable design and remains the most actively traded pre-owned reference. The Beluga, a feminine oval-case watch with a guilloché dial and bracelet integration, became a significant commercial success in the 1990s and 2000s. The 1911 collection, referencing the founding year, houses Ebel's more classical men's references. Pre-owned Ebel watches in steel and gold represent accessible entry points into Swiss dress and sport watch collecting for buyers who appreciate European design sensibility at attainable secondary market prices. Movement quality in Ebel has historically been supported by ETA and by Movado during certain ownership periods. DeMesy & Co. in Dallas has been buying and authenticating pre-owned Ebel watches since 1987.
