Rolex Explorer – A Brief History
The Rolex Explorer made its debut in 1953 after the first successful ascent of Mount Everest. Forged in 904L stainless steel, the watch could handle extreme weather and conditions and altitude changes.
In 1963, Rolex unveiled what would become their longest-running sports watch in their lineup – the Explorer Reference 1016.
