Cartier Extremely Rare 18k (E.W.C) Memovox Alarm Watch - Manual wind. Signed and finished by European Watch & Clock (EWC). 18K Yellow gold (35 mm ) Case has not seen much polish as evidenced by the strong gold hallmarks on the lug and case side. Inscription on the case back: "To Arnold with Much Love Jean June 1954" .Silver with applied gold numbers and markers. New brown leather strap with crocodile imprint with tang buckle. Pre-owned with Cartier box. From the Estate of playwright, screenwriter, producer, songwriter and novelist Arnold Schulman. Oscar nominated for Best Original Screenplay for Love with the Proper Stranger (1963) and Best Adapted Screenplay for Goodbye, Columbus (1969) Mr. Schulman's remarkable career spanned four decades. His collaborators included such Hollywood luminaries as: Frank Capra, Francis Ford Coppola, Richard Attenborough, Robert Evans, Frank Sinatra, William Friedkin, Alan Pakula, and George Cukor. This Cartier watch was a gift from his fiancée, American actress Jean Alexander and was purchased from Cartier New York in 1954 as a wedding gift. The timepiece is accompanied by Mr. Schulman's personal copy of his book; A Hole in the Head (1959) which starred Frank Sinatra and Eleanor Parker.
