Rolex President SMU Bobby Collin's Day-Date 18k Yellow Gold Men's Watch 18038 - Automatic winding; quick-set; sapphire crystal. 18k yellow gold case with fluted bezel (36mm diameter) inscription on back Bobby Collins, 11-0-1, 1982, SWC, Champions . Champagne dial with SMU Logo and 1983 Cotton Bowl Champions logo. 18k yellow gold President bracelet. Pre-owned with box and books. Former SMU football coach Bobby Collins’ Rolex Gold President that was awarded to him after his team’s victory at the 1983 Cotton Bowl. The SMU Mustangs had an amazing 1982-1983 season, with an 11-0-1 record culminating with a 7-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Panthers at the 1983 Cotton Bowl Classic. Several Mustangs from this winning team (Eric Dickerson, Russell Carter, Wes Hopkins, Gary Moten, and Craig James) went on to be picked during the 1983 NFL Draft. They were led by QB Lance McIlhenny. Bobby Collins, the beloved coach who oversaw SMU’s best stretch in history (going 31-4-1 from 1982-1984), was awarded this beautiful watch as a gift of gratitude for his expert coaching during that victorious season. Collins also oversaw SMU’s team during the 1987 season’s “death penalty,” a time when which SMU’s team was suspended for the season due to severe NCAA sanctions. Winning team members and coaches are normally presented with steel watches for victory, but due to his extreme levels of adoration from his community, Collins was awarded a gold President. This watch is the first gold Rolex that Demesy has ever seen awarded to a coach. This one-of-a-kind piece is inscribed with Collins’ name, 1982's record and the championship they won.
